Posted on: 22 April 2020

Dry skin can make you feel self conscious, and it can make you feel itching all the time. Dry, itchy skin may be seasonal for you, or it could be something you are dealing with all the time. No matter if it's seasonal, or you are always experiencing dry skin, there are things you can do that can help heal your skin and stop the itching. Read on for dry skin tips.

Turn Down the Water Temperature

Turn down the water temperature in your shower, or when you wash your hands. The hot water could be drying out your skin and even damaging your skin cells. Turn down the water temperature and use warm water instead of hot water. Cool water will also help to keep your pores closed, which can help to hold the moisture in your body, whereas hot water opens your pores.

Use Lotion

Use lotion to keep in moisture, and apply it immediately after you get out of the shower so you keep the  moisture in your body. Use a thick, creamy lotion that is best for dry skin. Something that has oats in it can help ease your skin as well. Apply the lotion more than once in a day if need be and keep some on hand to apply after you wash your hands throughout the day.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin is going to help remove the dry skin cells, which can improve your skin tone and prevent further drying out your skin as well. Use an exfoliator such as a loofah or a natural bristle brush to brush away dead skin cells. Exfoliate your skin daily before you get into the shower. Start with your arms and legs, then work in small circles to remove the dead skin cells. Moving the brush or loofah towards your heart can also help to improve the blood flow to your heart, which may also help to improve your skin as well.

Drink Water

Drinking water is going to help your skin stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water each day to improve your skin and to keep your skin supple. If you don't drink a lot of water, start doing so now.

If you have dry skin, use the tips above to help you. If you have a condition such as eczema or psoriasis, you should visit your dermatologist for help with dealing with these conditions, or to help deal with your dry skin condition.
